*Ephesians 1:1-23*

[1]Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, To the saints who are in Ephesus, and faithful in Christ Jesus:

[2]Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Redemption in Christ

[3]Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,

[4]just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,

[5]having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,

[6]to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

[7]In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace

[8]which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence,

[9]having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself,

[10]that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him.

[11]In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will,

[12]that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.

[13]In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,

[14]who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory. Prayer for Spiritual Wisdom

[15]Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,

[16]do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers:

[17]that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,

[18]the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,

[19]and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power

[20]which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,

[21]far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.

[22]And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church,

[23]which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

*Insights shared from the book of Ephesians Chapter One*

The letter is written by Apostle Paul to the faithful Saints at Ephesus, so one doesn’t have to die to be declared a saint.

I Iove the beginning of the chapter, Paul was *chosen* by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ not *self styled* Apostle,so its important to discern the two.

Importantly, this verse also shows us that the office of the Apostle didn’t end with the 12 Apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ

Verse 2

we learn that grace and peace are found in God not in money, possessions ,not in having another woman or man, not in alcohol

But in *God*

Verse 4

We were chosen to be holy.

The true call of God produces holiness in us.

since He chose us to be Holy, He has given us what it takes to be Holy. As we walk with Him, holiness will be the inevitable. Holines also follows that any call that doesn’t result in holiness is counterfeit

There is a new nature created in holiness that has been imparted onto our spirits, so we are called to put on this new nature on our souls and bodies daily( its like a dress)

Ephesians 4:24

[24]And put on the new nature (the regenerate self) created in God’s image, [Godlike] in true righteousness and holiness

Verse 5

God destined us in love to be his sons through Jesus Christ , this clearly shows us that God adopted us as his Sons. We have a parent _ child relationship with God.

When we were reading the book, _Knowing God intimately_ in the Online Library in 2019, a dear sister, and a Lawyer helped us understand what adoption means from a Legal point of view.

Here is Olivia’s sharing,

As a lawyer I have handled adoption matters and they are the most challenging. All requirements have to met to the dot and the parents if alive are questioned to the core by the judicial officer.

You know Why? Because adoption completely and also cuts off a child from their biological parents. That child is as good as dead to them because they can no longer influence, have responsibility or make decisions for the child. They have no say in his/her life.

So if we by the holy spirit are adopted into God’s family. Then the old is indeed gone and all things are new(2nd Cor. 5:17) Our father being God now has the final say in our lives. What our biological parents did and can’t do is of no effect. Their weakness and struggles can no longer affect us because we have new DNA running through our blood. If they didn’t drive or didn’t marry in church or have one limitation or another ,our family in God ain’t limited by those, Our new adoptive daddy is rich, powerful, mighty, there’s nothing He can’t do for us. We are His children now and we ought to recognize what a privilege it is and purpose to live fulfilled lives in Him🙏

We also had another great sharing from Hellen in 2019 after reading the same book.

I have been imagining ..if the Queen of England adopted me, how my life would change in the shortest time possible.

The car I would drive….

The places I would go to …

The dress code changes…

The food changes….

I become a Royal and I enjoy all the benefits that come with it.

Then I asked myself, how much more……..when God, the creator of the universe adopts me and

surely am a son of God.

A joint Heir, oneness with God..So as God is so am I.

He’s a loving God so am I

He’s a faithful God so am I

He’s a forgiving God so am I

He’s a rich wealthy God so am I

My Job is to have faith in Him ,and He will do might and powerful things in mylife. As I conclude

I am Jesus’ Sister, Power of Adoption.

Now when we ask for bread from our earthly parents, they faithfully give us bread not Stones. How much more will God ,our New father ,our creator do for us. Of course He will Do Great things for us.

verse 6

Grace and mercy has been bestowed on us. when people look at us, they should see God’s grace and mercy upon us and in us

When you meet a transformed life, you see grace, you see how merciful God can be.

Verse 7.

Reminds us of the reason we celebrate Easter.

We received our redemption through the blood of Jesus Christ, and forgivness of our sins. That was the adoption day. Christ adopted us and we become true sons and Heirs of God

verse 14

The Spirit is the guarantee.

If we have the Spirit, we are rest assured there is an inheritance kept in heaven for us and we will receive it.

What we experience because of the Holy Spirit is just a foretaste.

All the wonders of the gifts and fruit of the Holy Spirit are just a foretaste of how wonderful heaven is going to be.

Verse 15

Our faith in the Lord Jesus and our love cannot be private. There is no such a thing as private Christianity. It’s beauty can’t allow you to settle until it’s shared.

In fact in the next verse we see that it stirred the Apostle to pray for them.

There was something about their love and faith that couldn’t be ignored.

When the Apostle thought about their love and faith, he was moved to pray for them.

we need to ask ourselves.

What is it about me that will spur another person to pray for me?

When we choose to thank God for someone, we will most likely end up praying for other areas of their lives.

Verse 17

The desire that Paul had for the saints to grow is so heartwarming

Paul’s prayer to me is the heart of the chapter.

The message in the prayer for me is that…..the key to seeing all that he has mentioned in verse1-15 manifest is revelation.

The second message, we can only know God by revelation not head knowledge

The third message is that we can know God’s power by revelation not head knowledge.

Even the inheritance that the Apostle has been telling us we have, we can know it only by revelation.

Which causes me to conclude, the most important prayers to pray is for a spirit of revelation.
