[1] Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.

[2] “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise:

[3] “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”

[4] And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord. Bond servants and Masters

[5] Bond servants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ;

[6] not with eye service, as men-pleasers, but as bond servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,

[7] with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men,

[8] knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free.

[9] And you, masters, do the same things to them, giving up threatening, knowing that your own Master also is in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him. The Whole Armor of God

[10] Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

[11] Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

[12] For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

[13] Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

[14] Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

[15] and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

[16] above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

[17] And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

[18] praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—

[19]and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel,

[20] for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. A Gracious Greeting

[21] But that you also may know my affairs and how I am doing, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, will make all things known to you;

[22] whom I have sent to you for this very purpose, that you may know our affairs, and that he may comfort your hearts.

[23] Peace to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

[24] Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.

Verse 1

It’s a command from God, for children to obey parents.

If we relate with solders, they take commands seriously and they quickly respond to instruction, God expects children to do the same, and as they obey their parents they are obeying God, who rewards them with long life

Verse 4

Fathers have a great role to raise disciplined and God fearing Children, if you spare the rod, you spoil a child as far as disciplining children is concerned, parents should apply the rod of discipline to drive out foolishness from a child’s heart

Verse 5 to 9

Slaves are to obey their masters and serve as if they are serving Christ. We need to faithfully perform our duties in the presence and absence of our masters. We should keep in mind that we are serving God not man. God looks at the heart, He knows who is serving diligently and those who are just serving to get their wage or working to be noticed

Masters should appreciate their servants. they should not be hard on servants by threatening them or exploiting them, remember we all have a master in heaven watching our motives

Verse 10 to 20

We must choose God to be our Strength, He’s our everything.

If we are to going to fight a Spiritual battle, It is not flesh and blood But we fight Principalities, Powers, Rulers of darkness

We must be fully equipped and be alert all the time

Ready to face our enemy, Putting on the whole Armour of God.

The Dress code for Spiritually warfare

1. Belt of truth

2. Breastplate of righteous

3. Gospel of truth

4. Shield of faith

5. Helmet of salvation

6. Sword of the Spirit.

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit

[that we may be able to stand against our enemy well knowing that we shall not use our own strength to fight. He is our strength

Battle after battle.

A Christian life is a life of wars and victories

The word of God should be on our hearts and lips (mouths), so that in every situation, we speak out the word, what the scripture says about the situation

The devil is a father of all liars and he uses lies to destroy his enemies so we must know the truth and speak the truth to all situations. One lie spoken by a Christian it disarms you from your position. So let’s tighten the belt of truth around our hearts and lips

Above all, taking the shield of faith, every time the devil stains your spirit you raise your faith and call things as though they are, as you do this you are able to extinguish all the fire of the wicked.

Verses 6:21 to 24

Paul was in prison and his assistant followed his instructions

A faithful minister will obey what his leader has commanded him to do Just like Tychicus.

We should be careful with the way we report, much as Paul was locked up in prison, he chooses to encourage the church and this act lifts up weak souls to stand strong in the Lord.

This is a challenge to the church today,

Let us not magnify the problem above the gospel
